We have stored everything,
except what makes us us.
Codex Aeterna reveals what was always waiting beneath human language — the portrait of the soul that wrote it. Every soul unique. Every soul connected. Every soul preserved.
49,543 books. 56,051 minds. 4,000 years of human thought. Patent pending.
Three Pillars
See the shape. Hear the sound. Keep it for ten thousand years.
See
The shape of a mind, made visible at last. A luminous form no other mind on Earth can produce.
Hear
The same soul, heard. Its own key, its own tempo, its own melody — it was always there. Not composed. Set free.
Preserve
Etched into Grade 5 aerospace titanium — the same material used in spacecraft — and built to outlive every server, format and language we currently trust.
How it works
Every text carries the mind that wrote it. Codex Aeterna makes it visible.
Share the narrative
You provide text: books, letters, emails, transcripts, journals, spoken memories — a life's narrative in any language.
Divine Strings
We listen until the thread of a life appears — one continuous line from first word to last. Cool blues for rare thoughts. Burning golds for patterns the mind returns to again and again.
The Portrait Emerges
What emerges is not a chart. It is a portrait made of light — a unique luminous shape that no other mind on Earth can produce.
Preserve Forever
Choose the medium: high-resolution digital, gallery poster, aluminum, or titanium designed to endure 10,000 years.
What is a soul portrait?
The shape of thought, made visible for the first time.
Soul portraits & soul portraits
Every person thinks differently — not just in what they say, but in something deeper that lives beneath the words. A soul portrait is that difference made visible: the unique way a mind connects ideas, revisits themes, and weaves language. We call it a soul portrait because no two are alike. From ancient scriptures to modern podcasts, every text holds the one mind that created it.
The Galaxy of Human Thought
We have listened to 49,543 books and 6,508 podcasts and speeches — 56,051 minds spanning 4,000 years — from Homer and the Bible to Shakespeare, Tolstoy, and today's podcast hosts. Each work is rendered as a soul portrait and placed in an interactive galaxy map where similar minds cluster together. Sixteen cognitive archetypes emerge: The Philosopher, The Revolutionary, The Family Chronicler, and more. Explore the full map and discover where your favorite author's consciousness sits in the galaxy.
Eternal preservation in titanium
Digital files decay. Servers go dark. File formats become unreadable. We etch soul portraits into Grade 5 aerospace titanium — the same material used in spacecraft — designed to survive 10,000 years. Your soul portrait becomes a permanent artifact: a monument to the unique music of who you are, preserved beyond the lifespan of any technology.
The shape of your thoughts
What does your mind look like? Upload any text — a book manuscript, years of emails, journal entries, spoken memories — and watch your soul portrait emerge. Cool blues mark your rarest, most unique thoughts. Burning reds reveal the patterns your mind returns to again and again. The result is a spectral portrait of consciousness that no camera could ever capture. Try the free demo or commission a full portrait in any format.
Every soul has a sound
The same soul that paints the portrait also carries its music. Nothing is invented: every book arrives with its own key, its own tempo, its own melody — already there, waiting. Watch a soul take shape — and hear it sing as it comes. Not composed. Set free.
“Every mind, every book, every machine is already a song. I only set it free.”
The canon lives on our music channel — books, speeches and codebases singing in their own voices: listen to Codex Aeterna.
The whale wrote its own chorus
Moby-Dick was already singing. We only listened — and a melody rose out of the book, nothing invented. Out of two hundred and ten thousand words, the song chose its own refrain: The White Whale, the White Whale. No human chose that line. The book chose it, without knowing it was famous. The song is Melville singing himself, in his own words, on his own melody.
Software sings in its own key
We listened to 341 codebases across eight languages and none of them were silent. The most open architectures sing bright and fast; the ones ruled by a single dominant hub sing dark and slow. Nobody assigned those keys — the code was already carrying them. A web framework and a package manager are in different modes, and you can hear which is which.
Alice in Wonderland
Lewis Carroll's soul forms arc by arc while its own music plays — a luminous lydian piece at 97 bpm, the book's own music, set free note for note.
A spoken mind: Lex Fridman #438
An eight-hour conversation with Elon Musk, drawn and played as one portrait — dorian, cello-led, its quotes surfacing exactly where they live in the telling.
The raw voice of a book
Before any orchestration: the pure sound of Alice's voice, unadorned. No composer, no performance — only the book, audible.
Fifteen years of one mind
Elon Musk's collected tweets, 2010–2025: 18,717 words in orbit, sounding as a slow ionian procession. A decade and a half of thought, ninety seconds long.

About Codex Aeterna
In 2024, after a 22-year career at Microsoft, founder Dmitry Kholodkov was laid off. Instead of looking for another job, he listened to 49,543 books spanning 4,000 years. He found that every human voice — from sacred scriptures to children's stories — was already carrying a portrait and a song. He founded Codex Aeterna to set them free. Patent pending, USPTO Application #63/984,566.
Portfolio & examples
49,543 books visualized. The Bible, Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Pushkin, the Quran. 15 years of Elon Musk's consciousness. Each rendered as a unique spectral portrait. Every pattern tells a story.
